John Perkins

Brothers and sisters in Christ,

It is with a great sense of sadness and loss that we report the death our our brother in Christ, John Perkins. He passed away suddenly at home on the 2nd of February, 2010.

And so this day, in the midst of our very real feelings of grief and loss, we offer thanks to God. We offer thanks for John. For all he has meant to us, and all he continues to mean. We give thanks for his devotion to our community of faith and family.

Today, God shares our pain and God invites us to come to Him because he will give us rest. The same God who loved the world enough to give us Jesus also knows our pains and sorrows before we are even aware of them. At this time we need to believe the promises of the one who said, “I go to prepare a place for you… that where I am you may be also” For "We do not live to ourselves, and we do not die to ourselves. If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again, so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living." (Romans 14:7-9)

John will be sorely missed. We will not be with him until we see him face to face, in God's kingdom, but until that time we can carry on his memory and legacy in loving service. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Karen and her family at this sad time. We pray that God will console and comfort and help them in their pain, tears, and loss. Funeral arrangements are pending at this moment.

In Christian Love,

Pastors David and Shirley
