Anyone may participate in the life of Cary United Methodist Church. We are a diverse community of faith with a variety of talents and abilities. We invite you to share yours for the glory of God.

We believe that God is at work in your lives and that God is using the Church to change the world, starting with us. You can support the work of Christ's Church with your prayers, presence, gifts, and service.

Some opportunities for ministry include ushers and greeters, music groups, Sunday school teachers, youth ministry, study groups, clean-up days, community service, and prayer chain.

If you wish to become a member of Cary United Methodist Church, please tell one of the Pastors. We ask that you participate in new member orientation which is offered several times each year. New members join during worship, making public commitments to Christ and the Church.

History

The history of Cary United Methodist Church began in 1888 when the Reverend Edward J. Aiken rode his bicycle from Elgin each week to lead worship in a one-room school building on High Road. As the congregation grew, the church planned a building on Spring and Charlotte Streets, which was consecrated in December 1952.

In 1960, the Church acquired 9 acres of land on First Street and built a two-story education building known as 'Wesley Hall'. The sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, narthex, and office space were consecrated in February 1973.

As Cary continued to grow, Cary United Methodist Church responded once again. In 1990, a third phase allowed for a large addition, and remodeling of the existing space provided better accessibility. The new addition was consecrated in November 1992.

Cary United Methodist continues to grow and adapt to the changing needs of our community, always seeking to be faithful to our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ. With God's help, we will continue to fulfill our mission for generations.
